Account Deletion

This page explains how users of the News13s website and News13s Android app, package name com.news13s.app, can request deletion of their account and associated data.

1. How To Request Account Deletion

To delete your News13s account, send an email to news13skolkata@gmail.com from the email address used for your News13s account.

Please use the subject line Account Deletion Request and include the following information:

• The email address connected to your News13s account.
• A short statement saying that you want your News13s account deleted.

2. What Data Will Be Deleted

After we verify your request, we will delete or anonymize account data associated with your News13s account, including:

• Your News13s login account and authentication profile.
• Your saved article records and reading list linked to your account.
• Reader account metadata that is no longer required to provide the service.

3. Data That May Be Kept

Some data may be retained when required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, audit, or legitimate business reasons. This may include server logs, security records, abuse-prevention records, or staff-published editorial content where removal would affect the integrity of published news records.

4. Retention Period

We aim to complete verified account deletion requests within 30 days. Limited backup, security, or legal records may be retained for up to 90 days, unless a longer period is required by law.

5. Delete Some Data Without Deleting Your Account

You may also request deletion of specific data, such as saved article records, without deleting your News13s account. Email news13skolkata@gmail.com with the subject line Data Deletion Request and describe the data you want deleted.
